Gucci Gang

We may have all agreed on leaving Lil Pump’s hit “Gucci Gang” in 2017, but we can’t deny that the song came at a time when Gucci revamped itself as a powerhouse brand for a new generation. In fact, their sales jumped to an over 50 percent increase in the last year with changes in both the creative direction department and business side.

You saw it everywhere… from people sporting the classic Double G belt to Gucci sandals, fur-lined loafers, and printed backpacks. Suddenly there was an exclusive club for people who rocked Gucci, and everyone wanted to be in it.

Personally, I saw the hype and I knew why it was happening. It’s no different than all the other fashion waves that come and go over the years… we all remember when the club was exclusive to Tiffany and Co. jewelry when everyone was sporting the chunky silver “Return to Tiffany’s” chain necklaces. I will admit that Gucci’s creative directors have done an amazing job at redirecting their brand to fit a younger demographic and their pieces are so well-made that the price is justified for the quality in the realm of luxury goods. One thing I will say though is that I stand by my original motto that I won’t compromise my sense of style just to fit into “what everyone else is wearing”. That’s why I was attracted to this insane, redone Jacket by an artist named Bree Scott. I stumbled upon her Depop page one day and saw this upcycled oversized denim jacket decorated with Gucci fabric taken from an old purse! It had this insane, what I assume is a bag strap, attached to the sleeve and I immediately knew I had to have it.

This piece is a way that I can give my nod to the “Gucci Revolution” that’s swept the world without committing to the hundreds of dollars price tag! There’s definitely a million ways to wear this but check out how I styled it below.
