Long time no talk friends! If you know me at all you probably were wondering where I’ve been for the past year or so. Sometimes life is crazy and things just catch up so let me give you a quick update.
- I graduated from college! Time flies right? I graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing alongside a minor in Human Communication.
- I got more involved with my community here in San Antonio. Whether it was volunteering at events, organizing a festival on a college campus, connecting with leaders in the community, or going to networking events… I was a busy gal!
- I took up an incredible internship at a digital marketing agency here in the city. The opportunity truly changed my life and helped me realize where my passions lie for my future career.
- YES… I still own and operate my own pokies with payid business! I had to take a step back and re-evaluate the direction of the business itself but operations are about to be in full swing soon and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish over the next year, next five years, and beyond!
- I took a MEGA social media break. Instagram gave me anxiety, Twitter stressed me out, blogging got overwhelming, and Snapchat was pretty much the only thing I could stand. I realized that I had stopped living in the moment and was obsessed with my online image. I was losing out on real-life moments with the people I love so I decided to stop what I was doing and actually enjoy life’s experiences! It was the best thing I could have done for myself and would highly recommend it if you’re wanting a fresh perspective on life.
One of the biggest changes I made since the last time we spoke is in my self-growth and self-discovery. I discovered what career direction I want to go in post-graduating and I realized that path is not going to be linear and that is OKAY with me. Risk actually excites me and setting personal goals for myself and for my career for the next few years has given me a much-needed kick in the “behind” that I was searching for during my college years. I discovered that I need to stop putting so much pressure on myself to have everything figured out right now and that I’m not perfect. I learned that it’s okay to say NO when I need to focus on myself or to reach out if I need help with something. One of the biggest things I’ve learned over the last year is that self-care is much more than a tight skincare routine and bubble baths; that it actually means choosing yourself first and remembering that it’s okay to be selfish sometimes.
I’m excited to share this next step in my life with all of you… and I hope you’ll join me along for the ride (however crazy it will be)! More blog posts will come soon that can hopefully help y’all out when it comes to work-life balance, fashion inspiration, entrepreneurship, and anything else I really think to share!
